Large Size Mandala

I missed Paint Party Friday last week. I had an eye test that day, which took much longer than I’d expected. My new glasses are due to be ready today, and I hope they are. I’ve been getting headaches during my drawing sessions, and recently I've had to quit before I've got entirely into my flow.

Also, earlier this week my wife's niece's daughter passed away (I'm not sure if that makes her my wife's great-niece, but it was a sorrowful time.) Her passing wasn’t unexpected; she’d been ill for some time, but these things are never easy. She leaves behind a husband and two very young children aged two and four.

That’s two deaths in a matter of weeks. About a month ago, a very close cousin of mine passed away, too. I was greatly saddened by her passing. We were close when we were growing up, and although we lived some distance from each other in recent years, we always kept in touch.

However, I did manage to draw a couple of mandalas. Again, I kept the drawings large, A3. It does take much longer to draw these bigger pieces, but I enjoy the process so much it doesn’t bother me how long they take.

I hope you like the one below.

Have a great weekend.

  10. So sorry to hear of your loss, art can sure help heal if only take away the sadness for a moment. I love that you have given yourself time to create a larger Mandala, I know how long these can take and on a large scale for me they are something I have to come back too as I do not have enough free hours to spend on one thing.
I hope the new glasses are now doing the job intended, mine are like a good companion.
    Happy PPF Tracey

    1. Hi, Tracy, and thank you for your kind words. I usually have a smaller piece on the go at the same time I'm drawing one of these larger mandalas. And, yes, I find that art does soothe the soul.
