Paint Party Friday - Golden Light

I missed PPF last week, again. This is a busy time of year for me (Christmas shopping etc), and I have a couple of projects on the go at the moment which I must focus my attention on.

I did, however, find the time to do a couple of paintings. One of them didn't turn out quite as I'd hope it would. But I do like the second one. My painting has taken on a life of it's own lately. I'm sick of trying to control the paint. At the moment I'm much happier just letting the paint do what it wants and making the best of what I get. That's what first attracted me to watercolour - the unpredictability and the effects one can get.

Anyway, enough of the waffle.

Here's my painting for Paint Party Friday. Hope you like it and have a great weekend.

Paint Party Friday - Autumn Trees

Due to the school holidays and an extremely bad cold, which required a visit to the GP who prescribed antibiotics, I missed PPF last week. I missed visiting all my friends blogs and commenting on their art, too. But I will catch up, I promise.

I've been doing a lot more ink drawing and I'm surprised by the amount of work I have produced lately. I've set myself a goal to fill one A4 page with a drawing every day. That might not seem like a lot, but when you consider how much other stuff, writing etc, I have to get through it's quite a lot.

Also, I've begun playing the harmonica again. I'm not very good but I've promised myself that I will allow an hour or so every day for some practice. I've been a fan of blues for some time and I would love to be able to play like many of my idols. I may never reach their standard, but it would still be nice to be able to hold down a tune or two.

Anyway, for PPF this week I've decided to let loose a little and forget about all the intricate detail my drawing requires. The painting below is the result. I flooded the page with colour, then just let the brush  take control of the trees. I quite like the result. Hope you do, too.

Happy PPF and have a great weekend.
